Max Protection Acrylic System is a water-based 100% elastomeric acrylic coating for use in Asbestos Cement, Aluminum, Galvanized, Concrete, EPDM, PVC, TPO, Polyurethane Foam and Fiberglass roofs or external walls.
Max Protection System is a coating, also known as Cool or Reflective Surface, which reflects 90% of solar rays that strike the roof surface, reducing the contact temperature of the roof sheet by up to 25º C degrees.
Such temperature reduction has the following advantages:
1. Eliminates the thermal shock on the surface, which causes the leaks from joints, screws and cracks caused by the surface contraction and expansion (Thermal Shock).
2. Prevents the radiant heat from entering the building, keeping the room temperature cooler and comfortable to workers.
3. Significantly reduces electricity costs for air conditioners, as well as related maintenance costs.
4. Because it is applied in liquid form, it follows any surface geometry, coating the entire area and turning the roof into a monolithic block without joints or possibility of water penetration.
5. Because it is highly reflective and keeps the surface cool, it avoids the formation of the so-called "heat islands", which cause so much inconvenience in metropolitan areas.
Maxtherm System consists of the following products:
1. THERMAL INSULATOR: MAXTHERM#2000
Water-based 100%-acrylic resin for coating, saturated with synthetic ceramic, with low thermal conductivity (K-value), low absorptance, high reflectivity, high emissivity, UV- and IR-ray resistant, and resistant to aggressive chemical atmosphere.
2. WATERPROOFING MAXPROOF#3000
500 micron flexible acrylic waterproofing membrane to waterproof surfaces.
3. ANTI-CORROSION PRIMER: MAXRUST#4000
Bicomponent, epoxy isocyanate-based anticorrosive primer Besides the white metal blasting is not required, the total removal of mill scales and any rust pits is necessary for its application. After the application, a film is formed that blocks oxygen, thus preventing the continuation of the corrosion process.
The above products can be applied together or separately, according to the needs of the project. Because they are of the same acrylic family, they are combined in perfect harmony. Max Protection System is the perfect solution for problems in existing roofs. Its application does not interfere, at any moment, with activities performed inside the building where it is installed.
As previously mentioned, the ceramic, as well as the while color, are largely responsible for the coating reflectivity and emissivity. The ceramic is added to the coating during its manufacturing process, which because it is a product in liquid form, the ceramic spheres remain suspended and are not aligned due to the great amount of space.
When applied on surfaces, while the layer is wet, the spheres are not aligned and there is a certain space between them, which allows a part of solar radiation to penetrate the coating and pass between the spheres (Fig. 1).
As the coating dries and enters the curing process, the liquids in the system begin to evaporate, causing the layer thickness to diminish gradually until it reaches a reduction of approximately 40%. This coating thickness reduction will make the spheres, which were dispersed before, group together in a compressed form and, because of their rounded shape, they form a geometrically perfect shield (Fig. 2).
White paints help attenuate solar radiation through reflectivity; however, most of the heat penetrates the layer through conduction, radiation, and convection, because these paints do not have the protection of ceramic spheres (Fig. 3).
Most of the heat that penetrates the coating is blocked and returned through high reflectivity, high emissivity, low absorption, and low thermal conductibility value of the ceramic, which forms the internal protective shield of the coating.

The phenomenon of radiant energy under the sun causes instant heating of the human body, which makes the person feel thermal discomfort. When a person stands in the shadow of a tree, eliminating the effect of radiant heat, the thermal sensation is more pleasant.
The application of MAX PROTECTION system on roofs assures that the internal building temperature will be no more than 1°C to 2°C above the external temperature in the shadow of a tree (of course, this does not take into account possible internal generation of heat, such as the installation of an oven or engine that generates heat.)
